Terms & Conditions
Last updated: [22 September 2025]
These terms apply to dog-walking and related services provided by Pick Up The Paws (“we”, “us”). By booking our services, you (“you”, “the Client”) agree to these terms.
1. Services

We provide:

-
Dog walking: solo or group walks.
-
Pet care add-ons: [e.g. puppy drop-ins / pop-ins / transport – if applicable].
-
Pick-up & drop-off subject to availability.

We will confirm the exact service, schedule and price in writing before your first booking.

2. Meet & Greet and Acceptance

-
A meet & greet is required before any group walk. We assess temperament, recall and suitability.
-
Group walks are for sociable dogs only. We may recommend solo walks or decline service if a dog is unsuitable or aggressive.

3. Fees & Payment

-
Our fees will be quoted and agreed in writing prior to booking.
-
Payment terms: [e.g. due on booking / weekly in arrears / monthly].
-
Late or missed payments: [insert policy if any].
-
We may review prices periodically and will give reasonable notice of changes.

4. Cancellations & Changes

-
Client cancellations: [e.g. no charge with ≥24 hours’ notice; full fee if <24 hours].
-
Our cancellations: If we must cancel (e.g. illness, extreme weather, vehicle breakdown), we’ll notify you as soon as possible and refund or reschedule the affected booking.
-
Bank holidays and peak dates may have different arrangements [state if applicable].

5. Health, Vaccinations & Behaviour

-
Dogs must be microchipped, wear an ID tag and be vaccinated and flea/worm treated to your vet’s advice.
-
You must inform us of any medical conditions, injuries, allergies or behavioural issues (e.g. guarding, reactivity, bite history).
-
We may refuse or suspend service if a dog is unwell, in season, infectious, or poses a safety risk.

6. Leads, Off-Lead & Equipment

-
Dogs are walked on-lead by default unless you give written off-lead consent and we consider recall reliable and location safe.
-
You must supply a secure collar/harness and lead in good condition. We may recommend equipment changes for safety (e.g. double-clip harness).
-
Muzzles may be required where appropriate for safety/legal compliance.

7. Transport

-
If transport is involved, you consent to your dog travelling in our vehicle(s), which may use secure crates/seatbelts. We drive with reasonable care and within the law.

8. Emergencies & Vet Care

-
In an emergency, we will act in the dog’s best interests: contact you/your emergency contact and, if needed, seek veterinary care with your regular vet or the nearest available vet.
-
You authorise the vet to provide treatment deemed reasonably necessary. You are responsible for veterinary costs (unless otherwise agreed or covered by insurance). We are not responsible for outcomes of veterinary decisions.

9. Keys & Access

-
If we hold keys or access codes, we will store them securely and never label keys with your full address.
-
You must ensure safe access (e.g. gates/locks) and that your property and alarm systems are in working order.

10. Waste, Weather & Safety

-
We follow local rules for dog waste disposal.
-
In extreme weather (heat, ice, storms), we may shorten walks, substitute garden breaks, or reschedule for safety.

11. Photos & Media

-
With your consent, we may take photos/videos for updates and social media. You can withdraw consent at any time.

12. Insurance

-
We maintain public liability insurance suitable for dog walking. [Insurer and policy details available on request].
-
Insurance may exclude certain events (e.g. pre-existing conditions). Please ask for details if needed.

13. Liability & Indemnity

-
We will provide services with reasonable skill and care, but animals can be unpredictable.
-
You remain responsible for your dog’s behaviour and any damage or injury your dog causes to third parties or property.
-
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our liability is limited to [£X – insert limit or “the amount paid for the relevant booking”] except for death/personal injury caused by our negligence or fraud.
-
You agree to indemnify us against claims, losses or costs arising from your breach of these terms or your dog’s actions.

14. Client Responsibilities

You confirm that:

-
The information you provide is accurate and kept up to date.
-
Your dog is fit for walks and you’ll notify us of changes in health/behaviour.
-
Your dog has ID tag and is microchipped.
-
You will ensure safe access to your property and provide necessary equipment.

15. Termination

-
Either party may terminate ongoing arrangements with [e.g. one week’s] written notice. We may terminate immediately where safety is at risk or fees remain unpaid.

16. Complaints

-
Please raise any concerns promptly by emailing pickupthepaws@gmail.com. We’ll aim to resolve issues quickly and fairly.

17. Data Protection

We handle personal data in line with our Privacy Policy.

18. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The latest version will be posted on our website.

19. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales and disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
